Discovering The New San Roque Golf Course with golf pro Mark Emery

By Stephanie Noll. Today golf pro Mark Emery invited me to show me the new San Roque golf course and clubhouse. He received me with a buggy at my car which I parked in the almost overcrowded parking lot of the New Course.

First impressions and types of grass used in The New San Roque Golf Course.

First we visited the new driving range, some of which are intended for members and guests, and another part of it will be the Jason Floyd School with a covered room for golf swing analyzes. The driving range looks much smarter than before with different greens and bunkers at different distances.

The entire driving range, except for the bunkers, is made of artificial grass. The Practice Green is made of artificial grass! That makes the maintenance of these areas much more economical and always looks neat and clean. In front of the clubhouse there is a huge green for practicing made of “real” grass, 2.9 mm high.

The Clubhouse

The clubhouse is being completely renovated and a Presidential Suite with its own large terrace is being built on the upper floor, where the club’s administration rooms used to be. The pro shop that is managed by Mark looks super nice, although it is still under construction! ? Wow I can only say. The restaurant and other members’ rooms are also elegantly furnished and give the clubhouse a completely new image.

The New San Roque Golf Course and its degree of difficulty.

The golf course has been redesigned, tee No. 1 is where No. 10 used to be. And the 18th hole is what used to be N. 9 . A lot of undulations in the fairways, less water in the game, but “Hello” the greens will be tough. All with an exact length of 2.9 mm, wavy and all with hanging pre-greens, where a too short shot is punished with rolling back. A too long stroke will also run down the slope again. I believe that some fairways will be easier to play, but the degree of difficulty of the greens will be viewed with respect.

The San Roque Club golf course will be a feast for the eyes, with undulating fairways framed by cork oaks and ending in grandiose greens.

Thank you Mark Emery for this tour. I can’t wait to play here once. The opening is planned for December. “Green fee for two” could be a nice idea for a Christmas present! ?

Thank you for reading, Stephanie Noll.
