Sotogrande Businesses Continuity Plan: A must do, even for a small estate agency like Noll Sotogrande!
Having worked for multinational companies in the past I have been exposed to the practice of “business recovery plans” sometimes referred to “disaster recovery plans”.
Writing a disaster recovery plan, although a compulsory task with many large companies, is a tedious task, as it takes much time and you never expect it to be needed.
So, what is a disaster recovery plan?
Basically, it is a documented process or set of procedures to execute an organization’s disaster recovery processes and recover and protect a business in the event of a disaster. It is “a comprehensive statement of consistent actions to be taken before, during and after a disaster”.
In my career I have had to implement “The PLAN” twice. Once in Kenya, when a faulty electric cable caused a fire in a warehouse full of highly inflammable insect repellent aerosols which exploded like fireworks into the sky and burned to the ground. And, another in Auckland New Zealand when the entire CBD (Central Business District) lost electric power for six weeks due to faulty cabling causing the whole downtown area of Auckland to close down. Having a disaster recovery plan in both cases was without doubt critical to keep business functioning and competitive.
Is Sotogrande safe from facing business disaster? What can we do?
Now, due to COVID-19 we are all facing business disaster and having a plan is critical to continuity. There is perhaps little to be done whilst we are in compulsory lockdown, but as soon as we are allowed to circulate freely action must be taken to get our businesses active and functioning again. What that action may be Noll-Sotogrande is planning out right now.
Although the BEFORE part of the plan maybe irrelevant, the DURING and the AFTER segments must be thought of and addressed NOW!
Thank you for your time,
