All about the last weekend of August in Sotogrande!

August is the most intense month in Spain. This year, despite COVID, we were able to enjoy Sotogrande as always with all the security measures that allowed us to provide a fantastic and fun experience.

Fridays I’m in love.

We arrived Sotogrande on Friday afternoon from Valencia. Then enjoy the game at Santa María Polo Club, we had dinner at Cancha II, it is important to arrive before sunset to see the impressive views over the Ayala Polo fields. After enjoying a magnificent dinner, it is time for Trocadero, we have been listening to our friends all month about how much fun they are having in Trocadero at night. We will see if it does not disappoint today.

The evening went as expected… spirited music, our usual friends always having something in Trocadero, which, even with the sanitary measures, we could enjoy a very lively night.

Saturday: Beach and Nature.

Saturday morning was a magnificent day. We decided to go to Playa de los Catamaranes, our favorite beach of Sotogrande. I didn’t remember how cold the water is, but how good a cold bath feels after sunbathing. We had an aperitif at Gigi’s Beach, always a hit. And then we headed home to enjoy the traditional Spanish siesta.

In the afternoon we decided to do a little excursion, we are going to visit the Castle de Castellar. . The visit is magnificent, a pleasant curvy road to park almost at the top and observe, on one side, the magnificent view of the Campo de Gibraltar and Morocco in the background, and on the other side, the Guadarranque reservoir. We decided to have a drink on the terrace of the Hotel Castillo de Castellar and then visit the Castellar Zoo, which is actually an animal rescue center and which also allows interaction with some of the animals, making it a unique and unforgettable experience.

We chose to dine at Mar Sana, the restaurant of the Hotel Milla de Plata, the place with the best sea views in the area, and the food never disappoints. After dinner we went to Chambao to have a drink and enjoy some good music.

Sunday, last day at Santa María Polo Club to watch the polo cup final.

Congratulations to the French team Sainte Mesme! Winner of the Playtech Gold Cup of the 49th MANSION International Polo Tournament. The victorious team defeated their Pakistani opponent BN Polo Team, 11-10 in the grand final on Sunday August 30 at Santa María Polo Club in Sotogrande.

The weekend has flown by. Now we have to pack, it’s time to return to our regular life with our batteries charged and fully rested.
