Brexit: Growth of British & EU expats in Spain? By Mark Stücklin

Mark Stücklin from Spanish Property Insight concludes, in this very interesting article on the numbers of expats living in Spain, that it can be argued that Brexit has caused some growth in British expats to Spain rather than a decline.. since the referendum.

This is not the first time I have read articles suggesting there would be people wanting to leave the UK due to Brexit. As most opinions state, it is the uncertainty of it all that makes us feel uncomfortable when deciding to buy or to wait.

Our experience at Noll Sotogrande supports this fact. Many applicants looking to buy in and around Sotogrande are fed up with politicians influencing their lives and putting it on hold whilst they sort out the mess Brexit has become. Many have bought their holiday home irrespective of the exchange rate, commonly understood to be the biggest factor when deciding to buy outside the UK. They will worry about the financials when exiting. The biggest concerns are rather softer issues such as Pet passports (chips), and health cover, or insurance issues.

Anyway.. thought Mark’s article should be read as his numbers do not support the pessimism that exists around Brexit. Rather the contrary!
