Keeping fit at home in Sotogrande… What we are doing!

Staying fit is a challenge at the best of times, and even more so when under stress. Although we are now allowed to exercise outdoors, we will still practice our gym routine at home, in Sotogrande


We really do not know what impact the Coronavirus will have on our businesses long term. However, by caring for our bodies, we are taking steps to prop up our overall health and manage stress levels.

All my life I have practiced some element of sport or physical activity, be it at school, college or as member of a sports club. When I lived in the UK, I was fortunate enough to play rugby, participate in athletics, and swim at representative level; be it school, university or county level.

Over the years my fitness objectives have changed from purely the competitive side, to a keep healthy phase. As I am no longer a spring chicken, keeping weight under control and managing an unhealthy cholesterol level has kept me motivated. I do so by gym work and walking 18 holes of golf most weeks.

As lockdown has moved along from two to four to six and could even be possibly more in Sotogrande, I see many suggestions on social media as to what, how, when, with whom to exercise. I have noticed there are many new keep fit APPs, that offer a variety of programs. All local gyms Social Fitness, One4One and Vanity, have clips on Facebook with workouts to follow. There are many social media challenges provided by fitness influencers.  You can also go “virtual” with companies like Peloton, Mirror, Soul Cycle or CorePower Yoga. And, of course, you can follow dance routines led by famous Strictly Come Dancing professionals. It seems the options are endless!
