I recently read a book called Escapology Modern Cabins: Cottages and Retreats by Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan. They are designers from Scotland who love the idea of retreat cabins located in out of the way places. Up a mountain in Canada or Scotland, or simply a getaway cottage in a forest would be an ideal location to have a retreat home.
Benefits of getting away, being able to disconnect, to destress and to focus on ones health both mental and physical, has always had an appeal, particularly to city dwellers. McAllister and Ryan focus on the modern cabin, but also some lovely traditional or classic type cottages.

The book made me think of similar options we might have right here close to Sotogrande, although most of us would say Sotogrande itself is an escape destination. After all, further inland, and not very far, there are getaway cabins or small cottages available to rent or even buy. For example, this country home: Ref. SAOUCO1070 , is close to Gaucin, and would offer all you would want from a retreat cottage in the mountains…. It’s located in a 40,000 m2 plot, on which vendors keep a flock of sheep, and many fruit trees!
In Sotogrande you may enjoy space, privacy, yet being connected when you choose to, and to disconnect, when you wish to!
