Brunch at the SO/ Sotogrande
Weekend brunches have long been a sign of luxury.
Originally conceived as a long, lavish affair for England’s upper class, the breakfast-lunch became a trend in the 90s that started in the morning around 9 o’clock and passed into “Linner” ( lunch and dinner ) territory and finally branched out in bars and casual pubs selling fried eggs and cheap Bloody Marys until late in the afternoon. But to our delight, gourmet restaurants look just like the well-heeled Brits imagined: elegant, indulgent and anything but hectic. Grab a glass of cava (or real champagne) and take a gastronomic tour for a Sunday brunch in the new SO Sotogrande.
Brunchers who come to the SO Sotogrande Hotel enjoy cava, wine and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and cocktails, upscale a la carte offers to order, stations prepared ( including delicious pasta dishes ) with local, seasonal ingredients, set up on an extensive brunch buffet that caters for every taste offering a variety of delicacies. The dessert offer at the end is so extensive that I wonder if I shouldn’t start with the dessert delicacies and work myself backwards to the bread and delicious eggs Benedict !!
Brunch in the SO starts relaxed at 1 p.m. and ends at 4 p.m. We really enjoyed our brunch at noon today, in a completely relaxed atmosphere accompanied by excellent service in the “Cortijo” of the SO Hotel!
After my sumptuous dessert and a digestive walk, I am now enjoying a wonderful, lazy afternoon on the sofa with a good film.
